DESCRIPTION: The Morris/Sussex Superior Court, is seeking individuals with strong communication, analytical and writing skills as unpaid legal interns. Under the direction of a Family Court Judge, legal interns will review motions, and other case filings for legal sufficiency and accuracy The selected candidates will be expected to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Judge, other Judiciary employees, trial court staff, legal professional, self-represented litigants and the public. Legal interns will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of Family Court and gain practical experience and valuable insight into the judicial process.
Please note this is an UNPAID Internship
Assist in reviewing motions and preparing summaries of legal issues and the parties' arguments in support of and in opposition to those legal issues.
Draft orders and statements of reason for unopposed motions.
Monitor court proceedings.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Driver's License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
Special Note: Unpaid intern applicants who are 18 years of age or older must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting. All data received will be kept in strict confidence except to inform the individual of the findings and what action will be taken as a result of this information.

The Administrative Office of the Courts provides technical assistance, operational support, training, research and development, budget and personnel coordination, and development and operation of information systems for the Courts of New Jersey.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
