MADE BYBACON BANJO CO. INC.GROTON, CONNFred J. Bacon started the company in 1920. Two years later, David L. Day left the Vega Company to join the Bacon Banjo Company. By 1940, the Bacon Banjo Company had been purchased by the Gretsch Company who continued to make Bacon and B&D banjos until the late 1960s.. serial number inside according to o estate 18737. It appears to mbe in good overall condition. some wear on the silvered finish on brass ring around top you can see in photo. nice MOP inlay on neck and top scroll work . it weighs about 8 1/2 lb unpacked. it is 37 inch top to bottom and 13 across. no cracks or splits. I could not get exact year from serial number apparentlly something happened at manufacturer and some of the record got lost but it is close to 1925 . the very History of this banjo is not truly know . no one to ask. but it is a real good looking and sounding banjo.
